2009 sl 550 engine died on two separate occasions, same exact location, making a right hand turn into a parking lot, about 5 MPH. The area was flat, no bumps. No sputtering beforehand. Restarts immediately and drives perfectly for the next month. The "wrench" icon appears briefly then disappears after restarting, no other warning lights. Any ideas? It has 33,000 miles

This one sounds like you could really benefit from a high quality scan to see if you can get a lead from any codes set in the computer. Let everyone know how this turns out if you get it finally diagnosed.

Check the battery cable connections both sides in the trunk and make sure the bolt down is attached. Used to happen to me on my r129 and that's what it was could possibly be the same issue power interruption.
