What was new in 2005 (350SL)?
Hi,
I am looking to buy a SL350.
The car I am going to look at is a model 2005 with the newer navigation screen. My question, is it more that was changed in model 2005 from the earlier years?
Is it worth some extra $ to get a 2005 instead of a 2003 regarding early model problems?

Not only newer navigation screen, the underline audio system switched from D2B to MOST fiber optic. Be aware of this when you want to replace your cd changer or buy after market head units.
Post-04 models have SBC firmware upgraded. Pre-04 models did get opportunities to upgrade SBC firmware but not all pre-04 owners were aware of the callback.
'05 non-AMG SLs also get new design on their front bumpers. Merc claims that it is more aerodynamic but most performance ppl will install AMG or Brabus bumper anyways : )
There should be other minor changes. I am also interested to know more.

2005 SL350
What else was new in 2005 (350 SL)
In 2005 the SL lost the auxiliary input plug for the sound system. On earlier models there was a 1/8 phono jack in the glove box through which you could play music from your phone or other iPod like device. Not having one is driving me crazy. I bought a 2005 SL350 in May of 2015. Love the car, hate having to constantly burn MP3 cds to listen to my music.
