Thinking of buying a early Mercedes SL(R230)but i am afraid of problems with the ABC

I wonder if the SL 500 have the same problems with the ABC suspension as the Mercedes CL 500?
I suppose that the suspension on the CL and SL is the same so that the SL 500 have just the same problems as the CL

Any good adivice here on the forum about known problem issues to look for when it comes to the R230?

Also any knows if you can fit a SL 55 AMG suoercharger on a regular SL500?

Yes it will have the.same issues. No, you can't just slap the supercharger on top and expect it to work. They have completely different types of engine management. it is cheaper to just get the.55. There are some good options for ridding ABC from the SL. In Europe, they produced the 230 SL 350 and it had a shock and spring system. You can pull the shocks, springs, swaybars, and power steering pump and install on a 500 or 55.

There are some companies in the US that sell it as a kit. Go to EBAY.COM and do a search for rebuild master tech. They are reputable. However, in Europe, you should be able to buy everything you need from the MB dealership in your area.

If you can get the car on a hoist and remove the underside trim panels you might check everything you can for leaks. Lots of hoses and connections under there.

Also have the SBC counter read to see how much service life is left. Its an expensive replacement. You will need someone with the Star (Xentry) diagnostic system to do this. You basically have about 300,000 depressions of the brake pedal before the system reaches its Mercedes determined lifespan.
