I recently had an issue with the front corners of my airbox warping upward breaking the screw mount on one side. It was more than likely due to tightening the box down on the ridge on the top of the K&N improperly. So rather than order a new one I wanted to see something a little different. Basically I used a silicone coupler to mount an E55 Y pipe (-used) to the MAF tube. From that I used the existing rubber tubes on the Y pipe to connect to E55 filter boxes sans charcoal filters; which surprisingly had no baffles. The E55 boxes are also at least half the price of SL55 boxes. From there the SL55 intake tubes connect up to the radiator support. The setup is secure but the metal camps need to be figured out since they didn't line up, but everything runs well with no CEL or codes( other than the MAF being disconnected temporarily). Under 200$. Performance? who knows, probably not but I was more into getting rid of that giant ugly box.
