WAF in SL purchase
well , i finally got the call for formal down payment when ordering my SL 350 3 days ago. it will be brilliant silver and with alpaca grey interior. options so far added parktonics, high/low beam xenon, keyless go and wood/leather combination for steering wheel and gear shift knob.
The Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF) has been great, it really helps in this end of the relationship. She always wanted one and at one stage we toyed about getting the R129 but could not afford it then, which I am glad now.
So I thought I push my luck and said - "can i get the SL 500 model ". Big time bad move, WHY ? Well she just received a $A138 fine for going 63km/hr on a suburban road designated 50km/hr (introduced 6 months ago). Not keen on getting more speeding fines from a faster car !
So my question to all you who have an SL , did your partner/spuse play a part in your decision to purchase and SL ?
On a side note : Thanks cone - i think your feedback on going from 350 to 500 helped. I will keep on trying esp since I am keen on getting the 7G automatic. Wish it was an option on the SL 350 like the SLK 350

For the first time ever I didn't have to do any persuading!!!
She just said "Yes, let's get one". Still touch and go though for a 500 - it'll cost another £8000. Likewise, I'd like the 7G. Trouble is she now wants to keep the CLK which we love. Mind you, that would solve the problem of who drives the Jeep or SL !
We spec it next month so not long to decide.

We don't have the 350/500 issue here in the US cause the 500 is our entry level. But I had no issues with the partner...the car was my Xmas present.
