2005 Mercedes SL
SL for dogs conversion?
I just bought a 2005 SL. I already have a 2000 SL and the rear compartment works good for my 100# dog. I put a harness on her and tie it to the roll bar. In hopes that if I have an accident a) she won't break her neck and b) she won't be ejected. The newer SL rear compartment is much more narrow, although the space between the seats is a little wider. Has anyone made or seen a modification behind the seats that would give my fur baby a more stable area? My thoughts are to add some thick memory foam that can compress as the seats move back and expand as they move forward. (Two different sized drivers).
Suggestion welcome!!!

IMHO if you're not going to let your friend sit in the front seat, i'd say it's a bad idea. The space behind the seats it's made for luggage only. If you're wondering about the roll bar look up some videos how fast that thing shots up. You will be surprised. Unless you keep it up all the time, then you'll be fine. I just can't imagine a 100# dog sitting still in such a narrow area ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
THe memory foam it's a good idea to keep the bottom level about the same. Have fun deciding ^_^

Leave roll bar up if tie a dog to it
if you tie the dog to lay down rollbar , if y pass over a pump and cornering at same time.. rollbar can go off.. and will rip the dogs head off, and eject it in the same operation.. i had rollbar going up 3 times.. hard driving .. is not big risk that it happend in normal, take it easy driving.. but y never know,, is heavy forces in motion..
