SL/R230: Red Brake Warning??

Red Brake Warning??
I was heading out on Saturday...2003 SL500....50K miles....I get the red brake system malfunction... increased stooping distance... visit workshop... alarm sound. So I park it until this morning, call AAA to tow it to my Indy, pull it out of the garage.... still getting the warning. Tow truck arrives, pull the car around behind the truck... no malfunctions. Waiting to hear the verdict from the shop, but very confusing.

HAve you tried stop/start the car when that came up? I mean to reset the system and stuff.
Since the braking system is all electric on this vehicle, search the forum, the system has some hiccups that are easy to fix. Besides that try to get scanned with a SDS next time it comes up

I got a call from my indy this morning. He says there are many codes in the system relating to low voltage - he's leaning towards the accessory battery being the culprit...stay tuned...

Looks like he might be in the right direction. But the codes might be stored from last time. If you're not in a hurry i'd suggest to erase them, drive for a while and see if they come back again. then you'd get a more accurate image of the condition.

Thanks for all of your replies. It looks like the accessory battery is the problem. All codes are being erased and the battery replaced. Happy to pay for a battery instead of SBC.
