Too loud for me...I prefer a soft growl like my AMG has

Sounds more like a mustang now than a MB

The ideal exhaust of MB is silent when low RPM and getting louder as you press gas.
Have you removed both or what's the mod exactly?

looks like you modified you lights on the car, did you add LED's and if so can you provide some detail on what you added. part numbers would be great if you know them.

Thanks.

Totally agree with you... I had the straight pipes for 1 month and I couldn't take the noise anymore. Not only was it loud from the outside, it was 2x more loud in the cabin. There was a constant drone and I reckon there was less power at low RPMs.

I ended up putting the mufflers back on. Recently, I took out the secondary cats and replaced it with straight pipes. The sound is perfect, although I reckon, not as good as the SL 55 AMG. I'll post a new thread on this mod.

Verdict: it is not worth suffering cabin noise in this mod.

I agree that the ideal exhaust for a "non-AMG" is silent in low RPM and gets louder as you gas it. That's why I decided to put the mufflers back on.

The exact mod is if you jack your car up, you will see two muffler boxes near your exhaust tail pipes. I went to a mechanic and they took them out and replaced it with straight pipes (provided by mechanic). As a result, your car has no muffler and therefore it will create more noise. Furthermore, your car is lighter because the mufflers are actually quite heavy.

I changed all the interior and exterior "bulbs" to LED's except the front and rear turn signals (didn't want to waste money when the stock halogen bulbs were good enough). I ended up getting "chrome" bulbs so it will eliminate the "egg yolk" effect when seen in daylight.

The description is provided in the video if you click the "more info" tab. Basically, all my bulbs are from Azn Optics. I personally prefer the 5000K colour temperature bulbs because I don't want to make the car look "cheap" at night.

For more details on which part # or bulbs to get, visit http://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applic...s/lrgmain.aspx

FYI: depending on your car, the bulbs might flicker or display warning lights during cold start. I had this issue in winter when it was negative temperature but it was inconsistent.
