Speedometer curiosity

I drove from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh today on the PA Turnpike. My SL is 2003 so I used my Garmin. The Garmin shows vehicle speed. When the cruise control was set at 80mph, the Garmin showed 77mph. Consistently 2-3 mph different no matter the speed. Stock wheels and tires. Maybe why I didn't get any tickets

Maybe GPS satellite signal quality. The speed on speedometer or GPS is always a little bit off. Most of the time, it is off by 0.5 mph. Thus, you can always challenge the validity or reliability of a speeding ticket.
