2004 SL 500 Silver/Ash

trunk opening?

Is the trunk supposed to pop completely up after pushing the button or does it just unlock and pop up slightly?
I dont believe ANYTHING my sales rep says.

If it is like the R129, the trunk unlatches and opens just a bit. Does not open fully.

It just unlocks and pops up slightly. I have a 2004 SL and you're right, you shouldn't believe anything the sales person tells you. They don't know much. :p

Yes this is right.

This is normal on all Benz convertibles I believe. I used to have both coupe and convertible old CLKs (208), where the coupe trunk opens completely, but the cabrio just opens a bit, just like on my SL R230.

I suspect this is because a fully opening trunk could cause more damage if for instance there is a problem with the roof mechanism and the "prevent trunk opening" interlock is not working properly.
