Electronic throttle

I recently ran into a problem with my electronic throttle. I was driving on a great sunny day and the throttle responded just fine. I decided to floor it and have some fun and the car suddenly "died" and came to a coast even though the engine would still idle. Pressing the throttle allowed a very slow acceleration and eventually I got it up to a slow cruise and made it home. When I restarted, everything was fine until the next full throttle attempt and again it went into a limp mode. I eventually got a check engine light and my Star indicated a mismatch in my throttle signal. I ordered a new pedal assembly and it should be here today. Is there any kind of reset or learn procedure or will it do that on it's own? I haven't looked at how the pedal assembly is mounted but I suspect it's an easy replacement.

Very common failure (I've eventually had to replace the pedal on every mercedes I've owned for this issue). Replacement is very easy. In the mean time, you are usually fine if you keep it under 80 or 90% throttle.

Cheers,
Chris

What latemodel21 (Chris) said! Got a used pedal off eBay for under $60 and it has worked fine. It takes less than 10 minutes to swap out.

I installed my $55 Ebay pedal and it runs great ! It feels stronger than before but that could be my imagination. It has to be the only easy task I've had to do on my car--it literally is a 10 minute job max. There must have been an American engineer that designed the pedal asm since there is only one nut and a locator that holds it in. Typically it would have had 5 bolts holding it in Thanks for the advice guys.
