ABC Travel Sensor question

Hi,

I need advice for the following problems:

2003 SL55 with 38000 miles.

ABC white lights come on almost 95% of the time I start my car.

Took my icarsoft and came back with error codes of my right front plunger travel sensor B22/5 as being faulty. When I do the height, it shows that it is 255mm when it is at fault.

If I drive my car for 5-10 minutes, and turn off car and restart it, I always can clear it, and the car does a small jolt to readjust itself within 1 second and the car is back to normal driving with no malfunction until I turned it off. All the travel sensors are operations after the reset.

I am guessing of the following problem: either short circuit of the wire to the travel sensor up on the top of the ABC suspension, or it requires calibration.

Additionally, I have never owned a C3 or C4 MB connect, I am super good with computers, and I know about the VMWARE and stuff like that, so if anyone can point me to a good idea the most economical way for me to get one so I can do the calibration myself that would be greatly appreciated. Local independent shop said $220 to do the calibration, I thought I mind as well just get the C3/C4 unit as an investment and just learn it myself.

Thank you so much! any advice would be appreciated!

J

NO LONGER ACTIVE
I bought my last SDS from mrtcartool. They are a seller on dhgate (Chinese ebay). Just verify you are buying the VMWARE version.

Benz
plunger travel sensor default value with open circuit is 255mm. Fairly common for the actual sensor to go bad within the strut. As well I have received a few Arnott with faulty sensor to start. Make sure the pins are tight and ohm out the wiring

SL500 R230
I had a sim issue on my SL500, turned out to be a small amount of play in the ball joint on the bottom of the front shock. Didnt fail a UK mOT was ever so slight but enough to throw the ABC warning. Given its a common failure, had both rebuilt.. never seen the light again in 2 yrs.
