ABC Shock Removal
Not having any luck removing the shock. Snapped a ball joint tool, it did not budge it, pickle fork not effective. This is unbelievable not enough height to get a whack at it with a pickle fork from the bottom.
Anyone else deal with this? I assume its not threaded in its pressed. I might have to take it all apart and press it out
Hate this car, my other 2 Mercedes easy....I should have chosen the vette

Just read a write up were the person said all you needed to do was put the nut on and hit it with a hammer. I did this, put a 20mm socket over it, and 1/2 drive extension, it wont budge....I am going to have to remove the suspension and press it out

Yeah something is not right, everything I have read indicates it should come off with a few good whacks....not happening, even with a torch. Suspension is coming off and will use the press. When it rains it pours....I just don't think this is the one for me....and I am not new to wrenching.
Although I saw the write ups on the challenges with this car our last 3 Mercedes have not needed much. Wife's E550 hit 90K miles only needed oil/trans/Diff change and I did a oil filter housing reseal.
My 03 C32 has 145K....some suspension and a pedal/TPS issue.....that's it
We had a CLK500 years ago, only issue was a crank sensor.
So pretty shocked at the lack of reliability on this one...My C4 ZR-1s never miss a beat, even the highly modified one...I rebuilt that motor and did performance regrind cams.
too bad when this thing runs its a monster, and it makes it seem so easy

From what I've read the suspension is still under load. You're trying to remove the bolt on the bottom of the strut correct? Did you find the pressure relief valve on the hard line?
