SL/R230: SL REAR PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL INSTALLATION
I am trying to replace my REAR LEFT EXTERIOR HARD TOP C-PILLAR on 2003 sl500
thanks so much
I have no idea how to take the old one out and install the new one

You need to whack the top of the plastic trim pretty solid to release it from the C pillar. Unnerving to take a hammer to your car, but it must be done.
Note the little dimple is on the interior edge of the trim, and it's best to use a small plastic wedge to lift it from the hole.
I recommend using a silicone spray lubricant on the parts for reassembly. Helps to slide the part back in place.
Hardest part is getting all of the 20 tabs to engage at once. Don't slide it 'home' until you are sure all of the tabs are in place.
