What other MB wheels fit the R230?
I need to replace the wheels (OEM AMG 18" Chrome) that are badly corroded and look terrible. The tires are shot too. I've been searching CL and see lots of MB wheels out there but very few that are specifically for the SL. Here is a pic of my car.
I am really leaning towards 19" wheels because I feel they look great on this car. I've found some 19" Black Gloss wheels from an SL63 that are in mint condition but I've never had black wheels. My paint is Designo Mystic White (07 SL550) so it would look good with my pano roof and tinted windows. My buddy who is into high end cars and knows more about this stuff says they'd look great and I tend to agree. Will be putting some Michelins Pilot A/S3 on them.
I see several 19" wheels for the S class and some for the E class. I know the bolt pattern and bore are the same, but how concerned should I be about the offset. Seems that the S class wheels and others have a larger offset.

Word of caution. I bought wheels that were taken off (in front of me) older S-klass. Rears fit just fine, but front ones did not fit - hub on SL extends further out and wheel center bore on these was smaller in the outer portion, than on the inner portion. I was able to enlarge the center bore to make them fit, but I would not recommend this.

You are correct, Mercedes Center Bore is 66.56mm. PCD is 5x112. Offset however varies between the models. On our R230's, we have 30MM front and 33MM rear offset. There is the exception on the 19" you want of 31MM rear. Obviously, the rears are more offset sensitive due to the wider tire in the mixed setup. You can use this online tool to do you own comparisons on various offsets and just simply measure from your existing setup to the fender lip and suspension.
From your manual......
Good luck,
Bob

Thank you for the replies. I'm probably better off sticking with SL wheels. I really like the 19" 5-spoke. Those black wheels I show above, is there any way for me to make sure that they are from an SL? I don't want to get them home only to find out they don't fit my car.

If these are OE wheels then a part number should be embosed somewhere on them for you to look up and see which models they will fit.

if you can open the images, then see attached in this thread.
https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...ire-sizes.html
if not, just google "r230 wheel fitments" and look at the first picture found. Those are MB recommended sizes and offsets. There are a lot of sizes to choose from. Even so, small deviations will not create problems.
Regards.

Thanks for the offer carguyshu, I'm looking for something a little more modern. 09+ preferably solid 5 spoke 19".
I can't open that image for some reason, not sure what the deal is with that on this forum. I did see that chart on google images though. I'm assuming that pretty much all SL5x/x will fit? Not so sure about S class wheels but there seem to me a lot more of those out there.
Side note, is there a sub forum here for common issues that exists across several models? My Keyless Go isn't working, neither door handle locks/unlocks without using buttons on key fob and the Start button on shift knob doesn't work. I'd like to do some troubleshooting myself instead of paying my mechanic to do it. Are there some threads around here that can help me out?

yes, any original SL wheels will fit. Regarding the S class - depends on the offset of the wheels, from what i know. But overall they should fit too, since it's the same bolt pattern. Best way will always be to try it on
And yes, there are tons of threads on the issues you have, and, as always, there are on this forum. If you were able to find that tab in google, you'll be able to find just as easy threads on those topics. usually the problems are common, but they might start differently, thus so many threads.
