SL/R230: TRUNK OPEN
#2
Common problem. Sounds like your soft close isn't working. Could be a leaky trunk latch, the pump, or connecting hoses. The system protects itself from further damage by deactivating itself and can be reenabled with a fuse pull or a reset, but you're asking for trouble if you do this too many times. Have it looked at. See the huge thread in the sticky section at the top of this forum. LOTS of good info there..
I just went through this same issue. You can see the red LED on the trunk release button on the driver door if you leave it open while you're standing behind the car. Give the trunk a good slam - not too good - and you'll see the red LED go out. You'll then be able to raise and lower the roof.
The more you do this, the more damage you can do to the latch and the receiver, so get it looked at sooner than later.
Good luck,
