I have r230 500 SL 2002 import fr.o.m. Japan.
As I understand gps navigation - Command in the japanese models are diffrent than the US or Euro models?
Question: Is It possible to Switch the Command unit to a US or Euro model and whitch types of units are compatible and actions are required?

Can you post a few pictures of your command unit?

Yes your unit is unique. It has a larger screen and in DVD based unlike the US/EU models that kept a CD based system until 2005 model year. It is not the same as the 05+ DVD system.
Unfortunately there is no way to make it work for EU or US regions, however a standard command unit from an 03-06 r230 should drop right in.

I would like to know if it is possible to retrofit a newer version of the Command in my 2003 SL500 (model 230). Currently, it has the older command version, with navigation, Bose sound system, and 6 CD Changer Magazine.
I am aware that in 2003, a newer version of the command was made available to this car, and was wondering if that can be easily installed, without loosing the CD changer (installed in the back), and also, would like to know if a bluetooth unit can be added to work with the command and the steering wheel buttons.

no you cannot. the 2003-2004 cars used the D2B fiberoptic system and the 2005+ use the MOST system. they are not compatible. to do any upgrades you will have to rewire the entire car and if you're going to do that you might as well go aftermarket.

Any good, problems installing.
To get it to work you will need also to buy the fiber harness if you have a cd changer and according to seller it will handle bose amps also

 

Did anyone ever reply with experience installing that unit?

A few with Seicane experience reported about it in the forums. Using the search function you should be able to easily find them.

 

And much of their experience wasn't great, particularly about the overall sound and the AM reception.
