Question Would SL350 Owners Answer a Question Please?

I was wondering which "350" engine is actually used in the SL350. In order to tell whcih one, i just need to know what the horsepower and torque rating on your cars are.

There are two possibilities here - the 3.7 litre engine used in the ML350 or the 3.5 litre used in the SLK350 and soon in the E350.

Thanks!

Edit: A link to a foriegn MB site would be appreciated in lieu of a direct reply.

You're busy tonight, Silver Lana...

The SL350 has the 3.7 litre engine. Its an exact replica of the engine in the SL500, same bore, stroke but 2 cylinders less. Its a revised version of the SL350 in the ML which is mapped for lower torque and other tweaks. The new SL350 engine, due later next year, will be different to the new SLK 350 engine reviewed here..

I understand it will be further tuned and adjusted to cope with the increased weight of the SL, with a broader power band and still more torque....

I find this really intriguing since MB or any major car maker tries to standardise engines for use across multiple model lines to save money.
Thanks for the link!
