Leather color code 501A
I have not been able to find the color codes for the "Black" and "Anthracite" used in 2006 501A Exclusive Leather - Black/Anthracite interior. This doesn't seem like an uncommon option. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack

Although we have some AH here that don't understand why the VIN is required to answer questions like yours, it is required if you want a correct answer, therefore take your VIN to any dealer and he, she or it will be able to answer your question>

Unlike a question such as "Where is the fuse box?", this happens to be a question where having the VIN certainly can help answer it. With the VIN, I can pull your data card from EPC and give you the color code. Understand that the interior style/color code from the data card is not the same thin gas the color code on individual parts. If you need a particular part, it is best to lookup the item in EPC with your VIN to make sure you get the proper color.

I gave Fields Mercedes my VIN and the said my interior is 501A Black/Anthracite. I have tried with the leather repair companies to get some touch up dye and they cannot cross 501A to a specific black or anthracite.

Here's your data card:

That verifies your interior is 501A, but that is both the color and style. It's "full leather" in color "anthracite". If you need a color match, use one for "anthracite" which is a bluish-black.

Yeah, that's the issue - the 501A is a "style" code so it's not just the color. I checked a part number by your VIN (the side panel on the center console) to see its color code. It shows "9C76" as the part color code, with a note of "581A Graphite". Hope that helps!

How did you manage to find a more specific color code? A VIN lookup on my 2008 CL550 Graphite Designo package returns just "501A". I should note, my 501A Graphite looks nothing like the car pictured above. I too want a touch-up pen for some white scuffs and scratches.

Once you put the VIN into EPC and pull up a part that comes in different colors, there will be a 4-digit color suffix. Just looking at the interior of your car, you'll see different parts in different colors. So everything isn't just "501A". Each piece has a that specific color code, and not all are the same color.

Screw vins and color codes, dealers are idiots regarding paint, just go to a real automotive paint store and have the color scan the part to match. They now can make rattle cans in store MATCHED

Maybe I can revive this old thread?
I've been looking for a dye to fix some minor scratches on my 2014 SL65's center console side trim. The interior is: EXCLUSIVE LEATHER BLACK/ANTHRACITE (501A).
I purchased some dye from Seat Doctors based on my VIN. They sent me black dye with a SATIN finish, which is what they say matches Mercedes. The color looks correct, but it's too shiny. The "exclusive" leather has a very flat/matte finish. Seat Doctors then sent me a matte top coat. I tried that and one other top coat product with no luck. The top coats leave a visible ring around the fix and they're too shiny despite being called "matte".
At this point I'm experimenting with a "dulling agent", which is mixed with the dye before application. I'm not done yet, but I think it's going to work. I've been progressively adding the agent to the Seat Doctors dye and it is getting flatter, but not quite there yet. I pulled the piece of trim out of the car so I can test the dye mix on the back. It's too cold out now to do this in the car anyway.
I would have just bought a new trim piece in this case, but none of the OEM sites have it. Looks like it's no longer available. Besides, once I have the right mix I can use it fix scratches on other interior parts like the seats. I'll advise Seat Doctors on the fix once I have the correct formula.
UPDATE: the best match for 501A Anthracite/Black came from leathertouchupdye.com -- their 7315 color matches well. Order it with the Matte finish option. The product is expensive, but it had the best overall match.
