SL/R230: shifting out of park problem

When dealing with MB servicing, misinformation and partial info causes unesscesary headaches. It’s in your (wallets) best interest to search out answers while using helpful this or many other forums.
For example search
Mercedes SL500 AMG; PSE pump and you’ll be surprised at what doesn’t/ does come up

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Totally unrelated to the PSE pump. It's a plastic pawl in the shifter that wears and breaks. Like Hary said - search the forum - there's several threads about it and how to fix it with a metal part.
