Interesting discovery
I've owned the car (2004 SL500 with the 722.9 transmission) for about a year now and have done a bit of repair and general maintenance on it. A few days ago, I got the transmission VGS errors P0717 and P0718. The codes were stored (not current) after restarting the car. When I hooked up my iCarsoft MB II diagnostic tool (which I keep always in the car), I cleared the TCM and have noticed that the car (specifically the transmission) is more responsive than I ever felt before. I've tried resetting the transmission before by holding the pedal down, etc., but never by clearing the TCM of any codes because there were none before.
This may be purely coincidental, but I thought I would mention it to see if anyone else has had a similar experience.
