Roof issues
Hi Fellow r230 drivers,
The other day I went to lower the roof and noticed the whole procedure was going very slow. It finally stopped with the rear lid partially open and the roof just started to unlock from the top of the windshield when it all came to a stop. I selected it to be lowered and it did eventually close. I tired it again and this time the leading edge of the trunk lifted just a few inches. Luckily, it did close. The second time I did get the "visit workshop!" message. Today I notice that the Roll Bar was only partially up. I selected up and it moved very slowly upwards. I then selected down an did lower all the way. I also got the "visit workshop!" message
any thoughts or ideas
Thanks
Markus

Do what Rodney said, and if it’s low, go find where the fluid went...likely the center front roof latch cylinder, which will soak your headliner and seals.
Lots of threads here on that issue, and how to fix it.

Hi Guys,
Thanks again for all your advice. Finally find a decent shop in my area. had the guy look at it and he traced it to the RH side roof locking mechanism assist cylinder. Thanks again!

Roof won't retract 2003 SL 500
Fellow Benz owners,
Hoping the reason my top won't open is a simple low hydrolic fluid. Top worked fine up until about 6mo ago, but all of a sudden just would retract. I'm certainly into the DIY theme, can someone tell me if this simple DIY task to add the fluid? No idea where the fluid container is or if special tools needed.
