w209 trunk auto open gets stuck already replaced struts
I replaced the struts in the trunk but when the trunk release latch on the key is pressed, it opens but doesn't go up. If I move it up and down and do it again, it will work. I've tried lubricating all joints to no avail.

So I'm assuming the vehicle has the remote opening of the trunk lid where it will actually push the lid open. There have been so many issues with the wiring in the trunk lid near the hinge, that I would start there. Do you have any rear lamp warnings or an inoperative 3rd brake lamp?

Hi Racin_fool, The trunk lid does release normally but it will just release and not go up unless I gently nudge it. If I close the trunk and do it again, then it will go up. The problem is that if it is closed for any length of time, it will just release and not go up. I put oil on the trunk hinges and the release latch so that it doesn't get stuck. The lift-o-mat seem fairly springy since they are brand new. Doesn't make sense to me why it won't even creep up and eventually go up. It's almost like there is a meta stable state that is just barely open.
