SL/R230: maintaining a battery charge

2011 CLS 550
maintaining a battery charge
2011 CLS550. proper way to maintain charge in battery. battery is in trunk. I do not wan to close the trunk on the wire. Is there an opening I can feed the wirw thru and close the trunk?. Also, should I connect both charging leads to batery or red to battery and black to metal part of car?

Not the correct forum group for the CLS, but I like your choice of cars and I’ll answer your question.
Get a battery tender junior or the CTEK maintainer, wire to both terminals of the battery, plug it in if the car sits for more than 3-4 days, close the lid over the wire as it is pressing on the rubber seal, not metal to metal ( I do this on all my cars), make sure the cable is visible from the drivers door or you may drive away with the tender still hooked up, enjoy fresh batteries all the time!
