I took my car to a place here in Manhattan called technik1 today. They are going to give me a formal proposal that would include changing all the drivers, adding a sub (possibly in the same location as the current "sub" up in the passenger footwell where the 2 ports are located) and a very high end amp (arc audio, tru tech or Butler). The cost will probably be around $2,500. They will check out the placement issues when they do clear film on my SL55 next week. I'll check out other possibilities.
I can't wait to hear from you Sarb!

Opps we came across an issue.
The plan was to hook up two 8 inch JL audio subs behind the seat in the compartment walls face forward toward the back of the seats.
Well they did this to a sl55 recently, but the guy did not want his CD changer anymore...well I do. So now a special custom fiberglass enclosure is being made that will fit in between the two compartments. It will rest in between but behind the seats. It will house two 6 inch JL audio subs instead.
I should have the car back this Wednesday and will check it out.
The crossovers and amps will be placed in the trunk on the floor and a special cover will be made to cover them entirely to make it look like a stock truck agian.
I will keep the stock 4by6 woofer and the fill speaker but they will both go through the amps.
I hope this is the last and only surprise, but I guess I will find out when I pick up Wednesday, barring any delay.

Sarb, So I guess you're keeping the Bose speakers in the doors. Would you mind sharing the cost of the mods? I'm very interested in your comments when you get it back.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I am sorry, I am not keeping the Bose in the doors. I have upgrade to: Focal 165 3ways utopia series.
Believe me I will post as soon as I can after the pick up.

Mod'd and Upgraded
Well here it is.
I picked it up this am and....wow!!!
What a difference, it is richer, crisper, cleaner. Bose does not even compare. The bass is fuller and deeper.
You will see a custom fiberglass box for the two 6 inch subs. The Focal speakers are in the doors.
Total costs are just below $5000 for everything including the labor [about $2000].
This is what a $100G car should sound like from the begining.

Thanks Sarb. Unfortunately the subs are too visible for my taste but it does look killer. What new drivers and how many were placed in each door? Where exactly is the center fill spkr? Enjoy your new sounds in your complete car!

The sub location was not my first choice as you may be aware. I know. Another option would be to use the compartment behind the passenger seat and add just one bigger sub, maybe a 10 inch would fit in.
In the doors are the Focal Utopia 165 3 way speaker sets.

So Three speakers in each door, the stock woofer in the kick panel on the passenger side. The fill speaker is in behind the two seats in the middle under the mesh, head level. And then I have the two new subs...so 10 speakers total and 700 watts.

You have to have your pictures being hosted somewhere else and then you can link to them using the "IMG" button and typing in the url destination.
I used:
http://www.stlhosting.com/upload/
This was recommended by a couple of users on this forum. It was easy and then just write down what the address [url] is for each picture then in your reply add the images using the "IMG" button.
For more info you can type in "post picture" under search on this forum.
Good luck.

After you hit the "IMG" button and type in the location and hit "ok" the link will show up in your reply, make sure you hit "enter" to go to the next line. [The picture wont until you preview]. To put in the next picture hit the "IMG" button again, type in the location of the hosted picture, press ok and then enter.
This should allow you to keep inserting pictures in the same reply, that is the way I did it.
good luck.
