thermostat replacement

2011 sl550 with 36,000 miles. Check engine light came on and had auto parts store pull code, they said it was the thermostat stuck open, not allowing engine to reach proper running temp. Had light turned off, but it came back on in a few days. Temp guage never reached the 100 degrees celsius, so the engine does run too cool. I have searched the internet and it doesnt look like a big job, but I was quoted about $400 to replace it. Considering ordering thermostat from mercedes oe parts supplier for about $130, but their picture didnt show the connection for the electrical connection. Does anyone have the oe part number for the thermostat? And is $400 bucks reasonable for the replacement, didnt ask what all that included, it may be a drain and fill of antifreeze as well. I've only owned the mb for a couple of months, so not sure about all the ins and outs of this vehicle yet. Also have slow discharge of consumer battery which appears to be the original battery. I've been looking at batteries at batteries plus at about and parts stores around $180. Again, doesnt look like a major job, am assuming I should disconnect the starter battery while installing the consumer battery, but was wondering what accessories might have to be reset in addition to the windows? Appreciate any comments from experience youve had.

The thermostat is A2732000215. Replacement is easy - just remove the engine cover and drain the radiator of just enough coolant so it does not spill out. You will need to lift the front end and remove the lower engine cover to get to the drain ****. I assume the $400 quote includes the part? Even so, I personally, would not pay anyone $250+ in labor for that job, but I'm very well accustomed to this work.

I bought a new Thermostat which comes built into the housing and it was $42 CAD from the local Bumper to Bumper store. Easy to sway out. Don't get suckered by purchasing OEM.

The mechanical thermostat used on the CLK500's M113 engine is much different, and much less expensive, than one used on the SL550's M273 engine that has an electronic component.
