SL/R230: Switched fuse location on a 2006 SL 500
All I’m trying to do is plug the red power cable of an accessory unit to a switched fuse (behind the passenger’s seat fuse box). Is there a switched fuse location in that fuse box?
When I use my volt meter I get 12V out of most fuses in that box with the car engine off…Even on the rear window fuses (but the rear windows won’t operate with the ignition off). I must be missing something.
Where in that fuse box can I plug the power cable to get switched power? BTW 51 is empty (but still get 12V with the engine off).
The reason for all this.I had a “professional” installation done of a mobridge M2.pro most in my 2006 SL500, but the system was not installed on the correct power input and drained my battery (it was spliced in the cigarette lighter power cable). I guess the unit stays on all the time drawing power and since I drive the car once a week that was a problem. The pros tried twice, but couldn’t get it right. So I’m doing it myself.
Thank you for the help.
