SL Renntech Chip
I'm considering buying Renntech's chip and airbox for my SL and wanted to get some thoughts about it.
The chip only bumps the horsepower up 25-30 and torque up around 15ft-lbs. All this for $5490. Do you think it is worth spending the money for such modest gains?
I would also add the exhaust system($1800) to the car as well if I did these mods. Thoughts? Comments?

Adding horsepower is always very expensive. It will cost you at least $130k to buy a SL55 and adding a supercharger will cost you $20k. $5490 sounds like a reasonable price to me. Some SL owners buy 19 or 20 in wheel setups for $6k & 7k and those wheels do not make the car any faster.
Obviously, you want to have some fun with your car and modify/increase the performance a little without going overboard. Plus the performance alternatives are few. Beside Brabus & MKB engine conversions or Kleemann you only have RennTech.
Go with the RennTech upgrade if you like it and your car will be different and a little faster. Go for it. If you want it - get it.

I Think I might be leaning towards the chip.
Karl K, I DO have one of the first orders on the east coast for an SL 55, but I'm going to be really tempted to sell it to the highest bidder b/c of the absurd prices I am hearing they will be getting.
Therefore, I might be keeping this Launch Edition for a little while. It is just such an incredible car, and has exceeded my high expectations in everything. I couldn't be happier with this car the way it is now, and the car has a nice rumble to it.
I don't know what the hell I'm going to do.
