Paint wear, SL550 retractable hard top side panels
The side panels on the retractable rear window show signs of paint wearing off. Has anyone experienced this on the SL-550? I am thinking there may be rubbing when the hard top (with rear window) is retracted into the truck space.
Are you talking about the shiny black plastic trim between the painted C-pillar and the glass? That plastic trim commonly degrades when exposed to the elements. You can buy new ones (under $100 each) and they are not very hard to replace:
