SL 500 vs 550
im new to this vehicle and thinking of getting one or the other.. im not seeing what the difference in these two models.. what is the difference? thanks in advance for your information..

The SL500 uses an M113 5.0L 24-valve SOHC V8 making 302hp and 339lb.ft. of torque. The SL550 uses the M273 5.5L 32-valve DOHC V8 making 382hp and 392lb.ft. of torque. Note that in some countries other than the USA, the SL550 was still named "SL500", although it had the 5.5L engine.

Considering now the low difference in price of the two, i'd opt for the 550 and i'll take the extra 80hp and just a newer car, since those came out later. Overall the taillights are different, and might be some difference in convenience functions. And, if i remember right, some options on later years were added to the base model, making it with more options than the base 500 models.
