Anyone know how the 7 speed affects 0-60 times?

I haven't seen a test of the 2004 SL500 with the 7 speed transmission and wonder if the 0-60 time is much better?

Forget the numbers. The driving experience is incredible. Absolutely the best feature of the 2004 model (well, OK, I love the feel of the burl walnut steering wheel too!).

Feels substantively faster

I agree that the 2004 SL500 with the 7 Speed is way ahead of the 2003 with the 5 speed. I owned both and swear the car is transformed by the change.

I find it curious that Mercedes has not updated its own website with the 2004 test numbers. Also, no magazine seems to have tested the new 7 speed to give us real world numbers.

How much faster is the car in the real world with the new 7 speed?

7spd 0-60

surprising enough the times are not that much different when benz first introduced the fact that the 7spd would replace the 5spd we all got excited and then the results came in, 6/10ths of a mile better in gas, and an equally small difference in the 0-60 times, from what i was told by benz techs the reason for the 7spd was to give the car smoother acceleration, and because it would add to the smoothness of the car, they also wanted a quicker response time to acceleration when the gas pedal was depressed, hard accelerations, passing and so on. and after looking at a few mb forum sights seems they accomplished what they set out to do.
