You may lose a few settings, but nothing major. I think you almost always lose the radio sound settings (Bass/treble), but not the presets. You might lose the auto-up function on the windows, but that's easy to re-sync: with the door closed, raise the windows full and keep holding the switch full-up for an extra 5 seconds. Rarely, but sometimes, you lose the steering position synchronization and you get an "ESP Unavailable" message. If so, resync that by starting the engine, and in park, turn the steering wheel fully lock to lock several times.
By the way, if you are replacing the starter battery (under the hood), make sure you first disconnect the negative lead on the consumer battery (in the trunk). Then reconnect the consumer battery once the starter battery is connected. Do not disconnect or reconnect the starter battery unless the consumer battery negative cable is disconnected. If you are replacing just the consumer battery, then there are no special concerns regarding the starter battery.
