Trans dipstick

Can someone tell me what length dipstick the 2003 SL500 ..is it 1215mm
it would appear I am getting really confused ... the plugged tube at Right rear of engine is actually engine oil and not trans
i have a number of DIYs for trans fluid filter change and none really make sense
is there a definitive thread to service the trans on the 03 SL500
it would appear nothing is easy

Here is how I serviced my 5 speed 722.6 transmission. If your trans is a 722.9 7 speed then this procedure may need to be modified especially for the final fill from the bottom.

As to the dip stick, many are for sale on ebay. They are way longer and are used only for final checking of fluid level and not meant to be left in and must be removed after checking.

Good luck,

Bob

^^^what Mercy-me said.
I will add that the proper trans dipstick has a 'diamond' shape at the end, which bottoms out in the dip tube at the trans, and allows the correct measurement on the 722.6 5-speed trans.
I've also done the 722.9 on my wife's Bluetec which does not use a dipstick at all.
