Does the 2003 and newer Mercedes SL have a drain screw on the converter?
Any of my fellow members knows if the 2003 and newer Mercedes SL, R230 have a drain screw on the converter for the autmatic transmission?

Some do have a drain plug on the torque converter. If you try to order one, it lists the following specific models that have a drain plug on the torque converter:
- SL500 (2004-06)
- SL550 (2007-09, 2011-12)
- SL63 AMG (2009, 2011-12)

If you're doing a transmission service, here is a link to the fluid exchange procedure that makes the presence of a drain plug irrelevant.

I did a search using the VIN of my car and according to the VIN it looks like there is a drain screw with O-ring on the converter on my SL
Thanks for your help

You can't go by EPC on this. The drain screw was deleted from the 722.6 transmission sometime around 2000. The early 722.9's did not have a drain until they decided they needed fluid changes, so it was re-introduced sometime in 2005. The best way to know is just to look for yourself. Note that you will have to manually rotate the crankshaft while watching for it to come around on the torque converter access port. Oh, and something I found out on my MY 2010 ML350 - they put the access port on the wrong side of the bell housing (front vs. rear) so even if it has a drain, it can't be accessed!

Thanks Rudeney.
I have done oil changes on the automatic transmission on all of my Mercedes and everybody have had the drin screw on the converter
When i did look at the Mercedes site to check for the drain screw i used the VIN of my car but i suppose that does not guarantee that the drain screw is there
The site works like this: If you click on a part number that is not on your car nothing happens or you get a new browser window,. If you click on a part number that actually is on your car
I hope the drain screw is there since i really do not feel like taking pf the oil line in the front cooler and start the car and flush until new fresh oil is coming out of the oil line
