Smile 2005 Sl600

I'm new to MBworld and I must say I am so happy to be amongst fine company.

I will be taking delivery of a 2005 SL600 come late July2004, and I have some interest in modifying it to get the most out of the V12TT engine roadster. It will already have the panaroma retractable roof and AMG Sport package options when the car comes to town.

I am mainly interested in more HP, Torque, and Traction. Can anyone recommend a good tuner specialist in Vancouver, BC, CANADA?

I will tell you Harris from
http://www.hartonmotorwerks.com/index.htm

is in your city. I am sure he would recommend the Renntech option on the sl600. It is a ECU upgrade and TCU upgrade. Relatively easy to do , huge difference in both torque and horsepower.

Traction?... hummm probably a lot less with the extra hp, and torque. Good Luck.

Enjoy.

Kleemann has extensive power upgrade kits and can add a limited slip differential that increases traction and is supposed to work great at the drag strip. see the info they sent to me below:

Stage 1- KLEEMANN Boost-Kit- includes a larger diameter crankshaft pulley and an ECU upgrade.
+45HP and +50TQ $3,395.00

Stage 2- Boost-Kit and Headers/Downpipes: Includes stage one plus KLEEMANN's 304 stainless steel mandrel bent and TIG welded exhaust headers, including downpipes. +100 HP, +110 TQ $7,495.00

Stage 3- Boost-kit, headers/downpipes and sport camshafts- Includes stage 1&2 plus KLEEMANN's custom ground camshafts. +117 HP, +127 TQ $11,595.00

Stage 4- Stage 4 includes stages 1-3 plus KLEEMANN's limited slip differential conversion. This conversion doesn't necessarily add any power, but the LSD conversion will greatly improve traction, for drastically reduced 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. We have measured as much as a .5 second reduction in 1/4 mile times with our stage 4 kit. $13,895.00

Each of our stages are available for purchase separately as well, so if you would only like to do the boost-kit and the LSD conversion, we can make it happen for you. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and thank you for contacting KLEEMANN USA!

All the above exclude installation.

zzoorrkk, I am just wondering where do you get your car from? I will be getting my 04 sl55 within a couple days. Though, I felt I've been deceived, I could not back off now since the deposit is none refundable. My dealder told me the 05 info was not even out yet, and suggested me to take the 04 april produciton sl55. If I knew the 05 model will come out this early , then i would've ordered the July or August deliver instead.

As an very disspointed SL owener, I will probably not getting any benz again due unsatisfatory transection i've dealt with MB.

BTW, does there anyone want the brand new SL55 in Greater Vancouver area, I could probably sell you below MSRP.

What colour and options did you order on the SL55 you have being delivered?

What price will you be asking?

Which dealership are you purchasing through?

Would you then order a SL600?

the SL55 comes with white/berry red. The car is equited with climate comfort, keyless go, and panorama roof options. MSRP is CAD 210440.05. If you're really interested, PM me and I'll try to work things out.

hmm.... despite SL class is my all time favorite, I was really disspointed with the MB dealers as I mentioned(he even lied to me about the DVD command will be installed to replaced the older CD-ROM version, hence, no more MB for me). I am thinking the new M6 convertible, but don't know when will it goes into production.

I think you should enjoy the 2004 SL55 instead of selling it immediately at a loss, or just forfeit your deposit (what $5000?). Better yet, just tell your MB dealer that you want to wait for the 2005 model instead. I am sure you can work something out, especially when you already have a 2003 SL500.

When I bought my car, I actually ordered the 2004 SL600. But my dealer told me that since 2005 production starts in June2004, that I should consider the 2005 SL instead. So I said fine.

BTY, he said the 2005 SL600 is a carry over from the 2004, except for the added feature of shift paddles on the steering wheel (similar to the SL55). I cannot wait till delivery in late July!!! As soon as I hear more about changes to the SL600 for 2005, I will post them.

Ciao man!

I don't know if the 2005 SL600 will have DVD command. My dealer said it was a carry over from 2004. Anyone hear about the Command unit being DVD based for 2005?

Do12aEmOn: which dealer do you deal with? Who (salesman) told you the deposit is non-refundable. The only non-refundable deposits are the SLR and Maybach. SL55 is still a highly sought after car, your dealer can sell it within 1 day. I see no reason why they wont let you wait for a '05. If you need help to sort it out, shoot me an e-mail, perhaps I know the right guy who can help you out.

Did you look at the SL65 specifications before placing an order for the SL600?

Maybe the SL65 would have provided you with the bulk of the modifications you are seeking and still have the car covered under factory warranty.

Re: 2005 SL600

I did review the SL65 specs on the AMG website before I decided that the SL600 should be enough car for me. Besides, for an extra $3000US I can add the powerchip mod and boost output similar to that of SL65. Also, with AMG logos on my SL, I could attract too much unwanted attention. Every guy with a "race car" would want to drag me. I think I want class and style as much as I want HP and torque. When I get my car, I'll see if the rear tires can handle the HP and torque of the stock SL600. You would think that MB should put 330 19" in the rear instead of 285 18" stock for more traction. Anyone know how fat the rear tires can go?
