2009 SL550 hooh warning sensor

I got a hood open light that came on yesterday. hood is closed. stop the car the light goes out (with engine running) go forward 2-3 mph the light goes on again) looked for sensor under the hood but cant find it.
Anyone know where it is? Doesn't have the metal bar crossing the passenger side latch like other models.

By passenger do you mean from a LHD or RHD perspective? On a LHD car the sensor should be on the driver's side latch. Also be sure the cable and release lever are well lubricated and not binding up, the lever return to a flush position with the trim panel when the hood is closed.

Try releasing the hood from about 12 inches up, the manual describes closing it in that manner so if you're doing the "gentle" close by just pressing down on either latch point it could be that it's not completely engaging the latch enough to satisfy the sensor, even though the latch itself has engaged fully to prevent the hood from opening. Try a hard close and see if that makes the error go away.

Thanks
I took the drivers side latch out and I could see the sensor. Bent the tab up hope that works. Pouring out right now. Will try it tomorrow

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Mine is flaky, too. I have to drop it and let it slam to fully trip the left-side latch and sensor.
