Comand / Navigation screen - odd scratches?

When I received my 2011 SL550 it was very apparent that the screen to the Comand / navigation center had been mistreated.. Since it isn't a touch screen, I have noooo earthly idea how it could get like this?!

Before I start trying to make it better, has anyone seen anything like this? Do you have any recommendations on what I should do?

Thanks in advance!

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Yes, this happens to all the NTG 2.5 COMAND screens in all MBZ's. It has a special anti-reflective coating on it that easily scratches. I am guessing that this is the result of people trying to use it as a touch screen, or cleaning it with abrasive cloths. What I did on mine was to use a micro-fiber cloth and some window cleaner (actually, Pledge Multi-Surface). Scrubbing with the microfiber cloth and cleaner seems to remove all of the coating without scratching the underlying screen. Now I don't have the anti-glare coating, but at least it looks better.

You totally rock when it comes to answering various odd questions here. (And be aware, I've only just begun!! )

Thanks Rudeney; I will give it a try.

C300 and SL500
I had the same problem with an E350. I cleaned away the old coating as Rodney suggested and then put a NuShield anti-reflective screen protector on. Worked like a charm.

Thanks for your reply, Gary! I have e-mailed NuShield and asked for a quote.

I wonder if a regular anti-reflective screen for a tablet, cut to the right size, would work just as good? I may just give that a try first, since something tells me the NuShield DayVue will be a little bit more pricey...
