SL/R230: Check Door warning

Check Door warning
Keyless Lock Keyless Go car. Car wouldn't unlock touching door handle. Turn signals just kept blinking. Unlocked with keyfob and opened door the display says in red Check Door. Closed door and tried to start car, display in white says Key Still In Car. No response to start button at all. Was able to start car with key in ignition.
Got to destination and turned off car. Warning says Key Not Detected, Opened door and got Check Door. Got out of car and closed door and it locked itself. No response if I touch handle. If I stand near the car turn signals all flash. If I step 5 feet away, turn signals stop flashing. If I approach car again turn signals flash.
Any ideas?

This sounds like something with the KeylessGo control module. First, how is the car's battery voltage? Low voltage can cause electrical oddities. Also, I'd pull the fuse for the KeylessGo control module (58 on the rear panel) to see if a reboot helps. If not, then it's going to need a hands-on diagnosis with a good scan tool that can read that system.

Hmm, there is a plunger switch on the B-pillar, right below the door latch. Raise the windows, open the door and press in on it. The windows should raise slightly as they would when the door is closed. If not, then that could be an issue. However, it doesn't explain why the car won't start with KeylessGo - you can start it with the door open.
