Smile Struts for sale

2005 SL500. Just did Strutmaster coilover conversion due to leak in a line. Struts are fine, and I would like to sell them. I have had the car almost 2 months. Struts have 83,000 miles on them. Any ideas on best way to sell them quickly. I just would like to get a small amount of conversion costs back. What would be a good low price to move them quickly and to whom would I offer them? Thanks.

Report back on your assessment of the Strutmaster conversion. What are the details, did you do it yourself? What is the ride quality like? I'm sure a lot of us driving older R's racking up the miles and wear and tear on our ABC systems have considered an alternative to maintaining the stock setup and the eventual failures and the domino effect.

Thanks, Bob

I recently replaced all four struts and contacted Arnott about purchasing the cores. They not only paid me $300 per strut, but also sent a prepaid shipping label for each of them. Sent me a check for $1,200 two weeks later. I was very impressed with them.

Had an Indy do it. I'm no DIY'er on this car. Wish I were. Car feels and handles fine. I never plan to race around corners and all that. I just want ride free and without worries. It handles rough road nicely. I have no complaints. Very, very glad I did it. I've had the car 2 months and have put $6500 into it including the conversion. Never had a better car than this. The peace of mind of the conversion is well worth the dollars. I don't get the ABC gray light. They claim to have installed the light kit, but the kit is supposed to still give the ABC light that can be cleared. I heard pulling the fuse removes the light completely. Or maybe they disabled it with a diagnostic box. I was diagnosed with a leak in the line from driver wheelwell toward back of car. They said fix would be $1800 or $3600 for conversion. Seemed they charged me more than I have heard for the job. They charged me $2250 for the $1699 kit which I didn't like. This shop gave me a great repair before so I paid it. They did replace the PS pump after trying to use the existing tandem pump. The fact that I never need to clear the ABC light after starting the car made it all worth it for years to come.

Did you go to coilovers as well? If so, which brand?

Thanks, Bob
