2004 500SL

Reduce Oil Level

Hi,

Just got a red message the other day in Red. Engine Oil Level, Reduce Oil Level. Came on for about 30 seconds. I got home and via the onboard electronics checked the oil level and said it was ok. Anyone else had this before. Any underlying problems, Is it still same to drive

I would get the shop-use dipstick and verify the level. Sometimes the level sensor can fail and give these erroneous messages. As a precaution, check the oil for signs of foaming. If something is letting coolant and oil mix, that can also cause the level to increase when the engine is running, but settle when it stops.
