sl55 or sl600?

Which would you choose and why? Both will have renntech work done, and a full exhaust. the sl65 is too much money.

I'd get an SL55. An AMG is always better.

Just my .02

SL550
I agree on the SL65 if money is not an issue. I would take Sl600. The numbers are impressive.

Having owned both (not because I want to burn money, but because the SL55 was a lemon) I've found the Renntech-enhanced 600 to be better except for the engine noise at wide open throttle.

Was engine noise louder on the 600 or 55?

SL 600 for sure...the torque on that beast in incredible. You're getting the same HP. The 600 comes with more standard features as well.

You know what they say....a blub that burns twice as bright only burns half as long....I think this applies to the SL55

My impression of the two cars (according to my dealer) is that the SL55 is more sporty (all the components are tuned that way) and the SL600 more refined. For me, I prefer the image of refinement and sophistication of the SL600. As for the incredible torque, I cannot say until I take delivery in late July. I am sure it will be more than adequate for my occasional stop-light-road-warrior needs. I read that the SL600 is quieter and smoother compared to the SL55. And I like that. I don't want to show everyone I drive a 500hp roadster from the agressive exhaust note.

SL55 or SL600? I guess it depends on your personality. Which everone you choose, I wish you great enjoyment and continued success!

Cheers

For the financially minded

If numbers are a factor, depreciation on the SL600 is much worse than on an SL55. Sillydriver- I bet you lost very little when you sold your SL55 but when you tire of the SL600, it will be a different story.

As you say, I suffered very little depreciation on the resale of the 55. Supply caught up with demand shortly after that, so I think I would have gotten a much lower price had I waited. The dealership was unable to unload my old car for months. I certainly agree with you comment: 600s have a greater depreciation rate than other Mercedes. I suppose it may be that the target customer for the 600 doesn’t want to buy used.
