Key and trunk problem HELP

HI.
I have a problem, the other day I was on my way to put my car in the garage for the season, the car has not been used for the last month a has not been charged. When I inserted the key the car couldn’t find it, so I cold not start the car, the battery in the key is new, so that can not be the problem. I thought it was maybe the consumer battery in the trunk that was flat dead, but I was not able to open the trunk, I tried with the button on the door, the smal key inside the key but nothing seems to work.
Anyone has any idea? Could it be the consumer battery that are dead and that is what the car can’t find the key? If so how do I get my trunk open?

NO LONGER ACTIVE
First of all, the battery in the SMartKey fob is not used when you insert it into the ignition switch. The EIS inductively powers the the key. The battery in the fob is only used for the remote locking and KeylessGO (if you have that option) functions. I suspect as you do that the consumer battery is dead.

In trying to open the trunk "manually", make sure that you insert the metal key, rotate it counter-clockwise, AND then pull the handle. Just turning the key does not unlock.
