I have a 2007 Mercedes 550SL. When I attempt to close the hard top convertible, it seems to be misaligned. Sometimes it gets jammed on the drivers side. It happens 30% of the time. The fast fix is to apply downward pressure on the driver side roof while closing it at the same time.
What is up with this? I cant seem to find anyone to fix it. the dealer says it needs to be replaced at a $28,000 cost!!! There HAS to be a solution to this misalignment.

Welcome to the forum! Any possibility of posting a video of this? I really doubt you need a whole new roof, but it sounds like something might be bent or broken.
Are you storing the car roof open?
For what its worth...I find if I store my roof in the open position it will sometimes be misaligned at the header when it goes to close. If I store it closed, the problem goes away.
Not sure if it is a slow leak in a cylinder or air in the system, or something else causing the issue.
Would like to know if others has found the cure.
