I have a 2011 SL65 can I use Ate Super Blue brake fluid?
I am gretting ready to change my brake fluid and thought it would be easy in the future to see fluid was changed when a different color come out so -
I purchased several bottles of Ate Super Blue brake fluid thinking it would be good to be able to see when you change fluid from blue to amber. However I was told 1. it's illegal to use in the US – and if I were to be in an accident (even if it wasn't my fault I would be charged since the fluid is not DOT approved) and 2. I was also told that it's not compatible with the seals in my system. Is either of these true – can I use this fluid when changing brake fluid on my 2011 SL65. Thanks for your help.

I don't know if either is true. But just in case, you probably shouldn't use it. The best bet is that you box it up and ship it to me. I'll take care of "disposing" of it for you.

AT Super Blue far exceeds all the specs that MBZ requires. It is completely compatible. It is, however, no longer DOT compliant, but only because of its color. The gold version is still 100% DOT compliant and other than color, they are the same. Apparently, the highly paid experts at the US DOT decided that blue brake fluid might be "confusing". I guess it could be mistaken for windshield washer fluid or maybe toilet bowl cleaner, so it was banned. Maybe I'm just a rebel, but I'd use it.
But I do have one question: Where the hell did you get that stuff??? I've tried to find it, but no one seems to sell it int he USA< and those overseas dealers charge a fortune to ship it.
