Good replacement muffler
Ok, so we got our SL500 with the resonators and mufflers gone. What's a good replacement muffler that can be used? Could maybe eBay a couple of stock mufflers?

Found a couple of stock mufflers on eBay from salvage yards. $111 shipped for the left and $135 shipped for the right. Both will be here by Friday. The noise is cool, but it's starting to wear thin..

Muffler delete is pretty horrendous usually with all the cabin drone at cruising rpm (especially on the highway). I believe the M113 500 doesn't come with resonators on the CL and SL models, just a cross pipe in its place. The stock setup should be 2 primary cats -> 2 secondary cats, cross pipe, 2 mufflers. You can remove the secondary cats with no CEL issues (also should pass smog in most jurisdictions). California passed a law where starting this year they are fining people a $1000 if you have modified exhaust systems that are "too loud" (no longer a $50 fix it ticket) so muffler deletes are somewhat of a gamble out here now.

@Blazeracer
Glad you got your mufflers worked out.
My mufflers are stock, and I have read about resonator/muffler deletes, but I'm not really interested. If I needed a new exhaust, I would probably consider this:
https://topspeedauto.com/mercedes-be...ad-round-tips/
Dual tips and about $600, and says it will fit the following:
SL500 03-06 with AMG package (clamp on)
SL550 07-12 both base or AMG pacakge (weld on)
Another forum member ( @brentsl550 ) had these on his 2007 SL550 and also had resonator deleted (I don't know if he had AMG package or not), and he had posted some videos here, but the videos are no longer available (or they weren't for me).
A friend's Porsche has a muffler bypass button, and I presume when pressed it simply opens a valve or diverter and bypasses the resonator and goes straight out making it louder and presumably more HP; of course you can press the button again to switch back. I have seen these types of mufflers for other cars, but not on an SL550? Not sure there is room under there, or any real advantage other than being "cool".
