Help my SL only has First Neutral and Reverse

My 2003 sl55amg with 130k has only got first and reverse. The car has been sat under a tree for a couple of years and has become a bit damp. The battery’s were flat as a pancake so I have replaced both.

the car starts and drives in first and reverse only. The 1000 rpm max light is on the dash.

The abs and esp light is on.

any ideas if the car is in limp mode? I am thinking of resetting transmission and the garage has the car and will replace
both rpm sensors at the rear as they say their machine is pointing to rear abs rpm sensor issue.

any other ideas on this would really help and many thanks in advance.

also posted in the amg forum.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
It is in limp mode. Before throwing parts at it, pull codes. You need a good scan tool for that. A generic OBDII scanner won't cut it. MBZ's SDS is really what you need, but if you don't want to spend the money no that, at least get something like the Autel MD802 Elite, or iCarsoft i980 or MBII.
