Battery Tender 1 or 2

Recently after leaving the 2011 for a little over a month the car failed to start. A call to AAA was placed and their jump start module also failed to get the car started. It was then time to call our guy and get the car towed to his shop. My first question is how do you get a dead 2011 in neutral it was rather ugly having it dragged out of the garage? Our guy found a blown fuse which he believes happened when the AAA guy used incorrect polarity to jump start the car. I have seen some threads and I think the fuse he found blown is the one under the passenger side carpet, but I should ask him to confirm. Anyway that's water under the bridge, both batteries are only about a year old so purchased two Battery Tenders (one for each battery) for the next time the car won't be driven for several weeks. Is it OK to trickle charge both the consumer and starter batteries, even though some folks say you don't need to tend the starter battery?

Sorry for the long story. Thanks in advance for and advise.
Regards to all
Paul

In my c class (may be similar here) you push the trim around the shift knob in a little bit, and pull it out. Then you move the leather upwards, and there should be a little lever which allows you to put the car in neutral. Can't imagine it's too much different in this car, a Google search will probably help you as well.

Leave the starter battery alone. There is no point in charging it. And apparently there is some risk if you are not careful, as a recent thread documents a member somehow blew a fuse.

Here is something to consider. Auto parts stores sell to their customers batteries right off their shelves that are charged and ready for installation and use. Do you see stores putting tenders on those batteries?

NO LONGER ACTIVE
I don't believe there is any way to put he R230 in neutral with a dead battery. In fact, you must have the key to switch the ignition on to get the shifter out of park. There is no manual override.

I use CTEK trickle/maintenance chargers for both consumer and starter batteries during 6 months winter storage. All electronics and accessories memories remain the same. It also helps keep the batteries in new condition.
