My keyless go worked to unlock doors with a touch, but the locking feature was not working. I found a used one on ebay in my pewter color and bought it. It took some effort but I got it changed out and it works as it should now. Now I am taking the old one apart to see if there is some possible repair (microswitch?). The handle is filled with a rubber like substance which is very difficult to remove. I believe at this point it is ill-repairable. Several youtubes for other models, but I don,t think anyone has sucessfully repaired a R230 handle.

I've gotten into that sealant repairing the IR sensors on other model door handles (W203, W209). I just dig it out with a sharp plastic tool to keep from damaging the wiring, After the repair, i repalce it with silicone sealant.

My door lock button started acting flaky, so I sat one day and just "manipulated" it a few dozen times by pressing in on the button, then wiggling it around, hoping maybe the contacts were just dirty. It actually fixed it.

2009 sl550, the touch sensor on the driver door no longer works, passenger side is fine. cant use the locking rubber on the door also it stopped working.
so what i gather have to find a new door handle to fix the issue?
or there is something can be done?
