Third Brake Light
I recently noticed the tips of my trunk mounted brake light separating from the trunk enough to let water in. After searching, I found two choices: genuine MB brake light (2308200856) for $160, or a Dorman aftermarket replacement for around $100 at RockAuto.com (Dorman part 923-278). Further research found the Dorman light to be superior to the genuine light. So, I got it.
My my impression is that it is just as good, if not better than, the stock light. Also, the seal around the light seems much better than the old one coming off.
The secret to removing the the trunk lid liner is to put the top down into the roof lowered position. After removing the liner (see AR68.30-P-8150R) move the roof control mechanism out of the way (remove the two T-30 screws), remove two nuts and the back bracket. Pull the light out carefully from the outside of the trunk, and disconnect the power wire.
Install in in reverse order. (See AR82.10-P-5375R)
