Parking Sensor Problem

Hello Guys,

Few days ago after I gave my car to washing center after that front left parking sensor became faulty. It is very weird because it works when I get close to objects/walls/cars but when I drive under 20 km/s (when parking sensors activates) or park in open field front-left side of the car signals like there is a something and turns the red bars off it after few seconds and comes back repeatedly... I added a short video and pic of that. If anyone has an idea I will be appricated ! I can buy 3 of sensors just straight but if the system has a problem then it is a waste off money as you know I don't know what to do...

Thanks !
Niko

I had a sensor go bad. I didn’t have these symptoms, but it showed up on an SDS test. You can test them individually.

The test is to close in on the sensor with a piece of cardboard and see if it operates. If it doesn’t, it’s time to replace.
Not sure they are easy to isolate without the SDS, but you can give it a try.

At any rate, they are fairly cheap, I think I pad $15, but it requires pulling the front bumper off to replace.
if not the sensor, you may have a short from a wet connection.

best of luck and let us know what you find.

it is not necessary to pull the front bumper off to replace sensor.
I did it some days ago.
just need to pull off this part (carefully)

How did you manage to take off the bumper srtip where the park sensors sit? On 2007 and newer SL, R230 have the strip "molded" as a part of the front bumper so the bumper needs to come off

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
As of March 1st, 2006, actually. Up to that mfg date, the ram strips can be parted from the bumper by wedging them out, working from the side towards the center. The strips can be wedged from the rear bumper on cars with mfg date up to January 29th, 2008.
